All proofreading work welcomed but my specialist areas range from Government, Human Resources, and Public Sector; through Archaeology, Geography, Geology, History, Literature and Languages; to Cookery, Gardening, General Fiction, Sport, and Travel.

EXPERIENCE

I have 35 years' experience in departmental government administration and project management, with the last 22 years being spent in Human Resources, dealing with recruitment, conditions of service, applying departmental guidance and giving advice on a wide range of personnel matters.

During the last four years I have carried out hard copy and on-screen work for the Department for Work and Pensions. This has involved proofreading departmental defence submissions to the Civil Service Appeal Board and to Employment Tribunals.

I am currently a freelance Academic Proofreader (with www.proofreadmyessay.co.uk) which calls for the proofreading of theses, dissertations and essays written mainly by students whose native language is not English.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pass with Merit in Publishing Training Centre's "Basic Proofreading by Distance Learning" course.
  • Associate of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders.
  • Knowledge of French and German (to A-level equivalent).
